Consideration of shade structures for playgrounds is essential when implementing the perfect playground for your school or backyard. Multiple types of shade structures exist and are being introduced rapidly into the market. Not only do they offer great aesthetic value, but it provides more relaxation from sunrays, wind, rain, and snow.

Shade structures provide an indoor atmosphere in an outdoor setting. Many types of shade structures exist including fabric, polyethylene, and steel. These are most important for school playgrounds, childcare centers, and even your own personal backyard. If you are looking for the best type playground where your child can run free and safe from the sun, shade structures will be a great option for you.

Once the playground has been installed you will want to maximize the potential use by adding some form of shade structure. Adding these will provide extended amounts of play and will also keep your children safer by offering cooler equipment. It is very important that kids have limited exposure to the sun, as overexposure causes real problems. The sun’s UV rays are generally not in the peak until afternoon. During this time, harsh rays can have negative effects on a person. Development of skin cancer can begin. Ainor Park is a part of the Horry County Park System. With little space they decided the Mega Tower from Miracle would fit well into the parks overall landscape. By going vertical Churchich Recreation & Design was able to provide a lot of play value in a small area.

Elizabeth Square Apartments

Elizabeth Square Apartments is located in Charlotte, NC. Using their standard shaped structure from Fabric Architecture as a permanent shade cover they were able to create a unique outdoor gathering space. Poles were painted to match the railings on the decks of the building. Churchich Recreation & Design was able to help create a fun outdoor area that satisfies the residents of the Elizabeth Square Apartments.

Patriots Park

Patriots Park was designed by Churchich Recreation & Design using their poligon structure. The contractor finished restrooms and concessions area under the pre-engineered steel structured system. This park is located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Fort Jackson

These structures were created by Miracle structures with Poligon’s Parasol shades. The shade sail is green and tan, whereas the standard rectangle is located in the water park. These two different playground structures are located on the military base of Ft. Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina.

Bluffton Recreation Center

We provided Wabash Valley site amenities for this new Recreation Center built in Bluffton in 2010.

Reeves Elementary School

This is Reeves Elementary School in Summerville, SC. The district was Dorchester 2 Schools. All MREC products with a bonded rubber surface. There was a second school that was done at the same time exactly the same except green and tan.

Pritchardville Elementary School

Pritchardville Elementary School is a new building for Beaufort County Schools that we did severe playgrounds for both 5-12 and 2-5 and site amenities. Bonded rube surface is standard for the school district so that was also included.

Sanders Clyde Elementary

Sanders Clyde is a brand new Elementary School in the heart of downtown Charleston. We provided upscale Urbanscape site amenities and both a more fitness focused structure and a traditional post and desk structure.

Tyger River Park

Located in the historic town of Reidville, South Carolina, Tyger River Park provides a state-of-the-art venue for regional and national baseball and softball tournaments. These tournaments bring thousands of young athletes to Spartanburg County where they can experience Spartanburg County’s mild climate, warm hospitality, convenient interstates and airport, historic sites and numerous amenities.

Churchich Recreation and Design was thrilled to work on this premiere destination, selecting Shade Systems bleacher shades and Wabash Valley tables to populate this 140-acre facility that takes “park” to a whole new level. The color for each shade and table corresponds to the field they’re for to ensure flow of traffic and navigation as well as an opportunity for color.

Tyger Park River is scheduled to open on March 10th, 2012, and is already booked through the summer with major sporting events.
